A message from Lynda Evans, Executive Vice President:

Capital Region Builders Association (CRBA) offers a unified voice on industry issues and is proud to be the recognized leader in the home building industry and a major voice in governmental affairs.  Membership benefits can help you work smarter, not harder to enhance your business whether you build one home or 1,000 homes per year.  CRBA offers benefits that can save you money, too!

No one can afford to ''do it alone'' in an enterprise so vital to your region, so impacted by the global market, and so susceptible to the impact of public policy.  The association operates for the benefit of the housing industry and those engaged in related fields in the parishes of East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, and St. Helena.  I encourage you to join with your fellow builders and become part of the industry that supports you.  When you join CRBA, you automatically become a member of the Louisiana Home Builders Association (LHBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Here are just a few of the benefits offered through membership:

  • Worker's compensation insurance:  Saves you money and offers dividends
  • General Liability through The Louisiana Builders Trust:  Call for a list of agents!
  • Watchdog on government to see that our industry is not over-regulated
  • Educational opportunities!  CRBA offers informative classes to renew your license.  Potential customers are educating themselves via the internet and are looking for those builders who have earned designations like Certified Green Professional, Certified Graduate Builder, Remodeler, Certified Aging in Place Specialist (50+) & more.
  • The Parade of Homes:  Many builders sell their showcased property and get contracts on others
  • Habitat Home and Garden Show: BEST way to build your business! More builders are now taking advantage of the opportunity to meet prospective clients.
  • NEW:  Our Networking of Builders & Associates - (NBA of CRBA) Host a business after hours at your place of business.
  • Hammer & Nails newsletter
  • "Friday Update" - Emailed to all members as a weekly reminder of our calendar of events
  • BUILDER-ONLY breakfasts so our builder members can discuss the topics that relate only to builders
  • General Membership Meetings:  You can make important connections to enhance your business
  • Membership Directory & Website Link
  • Special $500 rebate from GM Motors.  Contact All Star Automotive for more information!
  • Annual Golf Tournament
  • Updates on pressing issues that affect our industry

Our members are talking:

Since joining the CRBA our business has grown significantly!  The ability to meet builders and introduce our product and company in person has been invaluable.  More than 60% of the  new customers we've acquired is directly attributable to CRBA participation.  Thank you!

"Membership is a no-brainer for me.  As someone returning to the construction business after many years, CRBA offered the best source of general liability and workers comp insurance.  The focused and pertinent educational programs help me get up to speed on critical code and building technology issues.  I've worked to become a Certified Graduate Builder and Green Building Professional and those help to establish credibility with customers and the real estate community.  I've developed a relation-ship with my peers in the business that is invaluable.  I can't imagine trying to do what I do without CRBA."

"As a member of CRBA, I have met people in varied parts of the construction industry that have provided me with the expertise for any need or circumstance that arose.

I have found we have a better chance to be heard on issues as a group rather than as individual entities. That's power!"

Is your focus remodeling or renovation work?

"Membership in the CRBA Remodelers® Council of Greater Baton Rouge represents a special distinction."

The CRBA Remodelers Council of Greater Baton Rouge was organized by Capital Region Builders Association to assure homeowners that contractors of established business stature, financial stability and knowledge of the remodeling business are available to serve their needs. The Council's membership is limited to firms who have proven their dependability and trustworthiness to both customers and suppliers.

Governmental Affairs:

Strong lobbying efforts have protected home builders on the local, state and national levels. Bills are monitored when the Louisiana Legislature is in session.

Partnerships:

CRBA has helped to raise millions of dollars for Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital with the Children's Miracle Mansion.

Our partnership with the LaHouse Project at the LSU AgCenter has provided our members and the general public the opportunity to understand energy efficiency and hurricane wind speeds and how proper construction will protect the consumer.

More from our members:

"Our membership in the CRBA has allowed our company to incorporate a network of the best professionals in the business.  If we are weak, we can pull the strengths of our fellow members into our process and give our clients what they ask for.

With the educational programs that CRBA offers, our employees can be trained in every-thing from customer service to estimating to Green Building.  With over 1,200 partners, how can we go wrong?  The NAHB Remodelers® Council helps us keep up with everything that will affect us as remodeling contractors."

Tom Ashley, CGR, CGP, CAPS

"Aside from networking opportunities with
some of the most knowledgeable professionals in our industry, being a member of CRBA has saved me more money than one would imagine.  With the many thousands of dollars of dividend checks from the Self-Insurance Fund and the several times I've received a $500 NAHB discount on auto and truck purchases, it costs me more not to be a member."

"All of the officers in my company have at least one and are working towards more NAHB professional designations.  We presently have five; and within a very short time, we will add another.  Nothing has helped our company the way education has.  All education is expensive; however, the most expensive is the education you don't get.

I hope you will consider this letter as an
invitation to join and be an active
member."

Joe Didier, Didier Home Builders, Inc.
2008 President of CRBA
